Outdoor activities

Hiking: the Munster Valley offers over 350km of public footpaths and many amazing view points. Alone or with a mountain guide, tread the paths of the beautiful Vosges mountains and discover its ridges, lakes and fields. Nearby, discover the Sentier des Roches and the Sentiers de la Wormsa footpaths.

Winter sports: downhill skiing – 3 resorts, including the Gaschney (9km), the Schnepfenried (9km) and the Tanet (20km). Cross-country skiing – Schnepfenried or Trois Fours (25km). Many snowshoe routes are also available.

Tourist attractions

Discover Alsace's heritage:
Strasbourg: for example, the headquarters of the European Parliament, the old town and the cathedral.
Colmar: the Unterlinden museum and the old town (known as the “Petite Venise”).
The Wine Route (known as “La Route des Vins”) and its many picturesque villages (Riquewihr, Eguisheim, Kaysersberg, etc.).
Mulhouse: its museums (motor and railway museums) and the Zoo.
Castles: Haut-Koenigsbourg, Hohlandsbourg, etc.
Animal parks: the Montagne des singes (monkey mountain), the Volerie des Aigles (eagle sanctuary with falconry displays) and the Parc des Cigognes (stork sanctuary).
Military museums: the Linge World War I Museum and the Alpine Ambulance Museum in nearby Mittlach.

Other activities

The closest swimming pool is located in Munster (6km). Swimming is allowed in the lakes, in the summer.
The largest European theme park – Europa-Park – is located in Germany (68km) and offers many rides.
Accrobranche, a treetop adventure, is available at the Formaventures Adventure Park, on the Schnepfenried.
Donkey rides are offered at the Pfeiffersberg farm.
Hot air balloon rides are also on offer. The nearest golf course is in Ammerschwihr (30km).
There are many fishing trails (lakes or rivers) to explore, alone or with a guide.

Eating out

Numerous farmhouse inns, inns and restaurants serve traditional food from the region. The Kempf family owns the restaurant Les Clarines d'Argent, located 350m from the gite, and offers a catering service.

Munster's Jazz Festival (23/05/2017 to 27/05/2017).
The Wormsa's gourmet walk (in nearby Mittlach) (25/09/2016).
The Transhumance Festival – traditional movement of livestock from the mountain to the valley floor, Muhlbach sur Munster (15/10/2016).
Fest’âne S’Menschtertaler eselfacht – folk festival themed around the donkey (06/08/16 to 07/08/16).
La Fête des Jonquilles – daffodil-themed folk festival celebrating the arrival of spring (in nearby Mittlach, 10/04/2016; in Gérardmer, 09/04/2017).
La Montée impossible – popular motocross event organised in nearby Mulhbach sur Munster (18/09/2016).
La Vallée des Contes – story-telling festival taking place on October 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 15th, 16th, 21st and 22nd, 2016.
Bredlamarik – Munster's Christmas market (26/11/16 to 24/12/2016).

The Village

Many amenities are available on your doorstep :
Medical practice (doctor, nurse and pharmacy).
Small convenience store, bakery, newsagents, post office (on the town square), garage, etc.

Calendar of village events:
Fishing: the lake will be open to pass holders on May 1st and fishing will be allowed on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each month.
Bastille Day: evening event with fireworks and music/dancing, on July 13th.
Summer bonfire : bonfire with fireworks and music/dancing, on July 16th.
Fête de la tarte au Myrtilles – food festival celebrating local wild blueberries and the blueberry tart (on August 15th, every year).
Goat farm visit, every Sunday from March to September (www.im-berg.com).
